Choosing your Music

Choosing music for your event can be overwhelming. It is best to choose a list of 10-15 songs that you must hear and leave the rest up to the DJ. While variety is great, the fact is that he will only be able to play about 60 to 70 songs in an average four hour show. After you tell the Ray what type of party you are having and who the audience will be, ask him what type of music he would suggest. Ray will be happy to assist you with choosing your music, if you so wish. Ray gladly accepts requests from guests at all events and will attempt to play them. Keep in mind, however that Ray will need to blend requests with songs he or she feels will properly motivate the crowd. Many requests are simply inappropriate for the mood of the event. Forcing a DJ to play every request will result in an "uneven" (and less fun) party. Ray is amazing in his ability to "read" a crowd and decide what music will be best to keep them happy and dancing.

Ray prides himself on being able to choose a wide range of music that will make your crowd happy. Each group is different. While you may want to choose each and every song, Ray will be able to keep your wishes in mind, while respecting the wishes of the guests, and create a musical experience that will make everyone happy and keep them dancing. He is familiar with a wide range of music genres. Should you require special cultural music, Ray will work with you to ensure that you hear what you want!

For weddings, you will receive a form to complete that will include music requests for the first dance, second dance, bouquet and garter toss songs, as well as songs that must be played and songs that must not be played. Rest assured, your wishes will be the most important thing to Ray as you plan this part of your event.

For school dances, Ray will choose songs that are popular, both current and classic, that keep both parents and children happy and that are appropriate. If there is not a radio edit, and the song is not appropriate for the K-6 crowd – it will not be played!
